I am grateful that this product even exists. However, I found it was not really a "universal" adapter because the *top* of some of my jacket zippers is folded over or hidden, such that, you simply cannot string on the clips that fasten the adapter. It has nothing to do with the type of zipper itself, but rather how the jacket's own zipper is stitched into the jacket itself. Check out the photo of the purple jacket (works with Universal adapter) versus the blue jacket (does not work, even when I folded back that little piece of cloth that covers the top of the zipper (see photo showing how one blue jacket can attach to the Universal adapter, while the other blue jacket cannot, even when I really fold back that little piece of cloth)). I also found, that when paired with the BellyFit (see photo of purple jacket with both Universal adapter & BellyFit) the two items together really adds several inches to my jacket circumference (see photo showing how much the jacket can be pulled out from body). It might work ok if you have a drawstring to cinch the hem of your jacket together, but alas mine does not and I think in winter it will be a little drafty. I am going to keep both the universal adapter and the BellyFit, however, because they work ok with three of my jackets, which should work for fall & deep winter (see photo of purple jacket with just the Universal adapter, without the bellyfit). And I haven't seen any other better options. A big thank you to MakeMyBellyFit for even *having* these types of products for us outdoorsy pregnant and postpartum ladies!
I totally recommend their products.
And their customer service is amazing.
I wanted to be able to keep riding my bike to work in the Vancouver wet season (Nov-Mar), and this allowed me to keep using my jacket. It's not completely leak or wind proof (this is the -1 star), but it does a solid job of of extending my jacket. I am using this with a Kokoala jacket insert, and MakeMyBelly was really helpful in making sure my adapter worked for my jacket and for my extender. They provided quick and clear responses to my email questions.
Got a compliment today on my baby wearing coat - got to talk instead about how great my Make My Belly Fit and Adapter are. Using my existing winter coat and not spending a fortune on a fancy baby wearing one was just one way I saved money getting ready for my baby’s arrival. Will recommend to anyone having a baby!
She said it would've worked fine but she thinks it makes her jacket heavy. But she is also very particular.
