General

Until 2022, we offered a classic zip-in extender that was supported with over 30 different adapters. We also offered a standalone Universal Adapter. All of these are still available on request by simply getting in touch :).

Thanks to our high quality, we are seeing a lot of these classic extenders being sold second-hand. The majority do not come with a "Universal Adapter". If you wanted a quick way to to see if it should work with your jacket or which adapter you could get to make it work, the short quiz on the following link will guide your through some simple questions and give you an answer.

Which Adapter Quiz

Alternatively, if you don't find the quiz working for you, please email us with the following and we'd gladly review it and let you know what would work with your jacket:

- Photo of your zip, clearly showing the slider or sliders (if there are two).

- Length of your zip

- Letters/numbers on the back of the slider(s)

Yes! We're always happy to help. The best thing to do is to send us an email with a photo of your extender. This is the easiest way for us to identify which version it is how best to support you. For example, our classic zip-in extender should always zip in with the narrow end at the bottom. Unless it came with the instructions, this can initially seem counter-intuitive as most people think it flips around (which it doesn't).

For Pregnancy and Baby Wearing
We recommend our best-selling universal jacket extender. Its patented zipper adapter works with most zipper types and so it can be easily transferred from one jacket to another.
For Babywearing Only
Our baby carrier cover is a zipperless design. It behaves like an extender, thanks to the patented clip-system on the front however has the added advantage of keeping your baby protected even when you take your jacket off. It does this by attaching directly to your babycarrier instead of attaching only to your jacket.

If you think you'll be more on trails and walks where there is continous snow coverage, then we'd recommend the skis. Not only will they make any bumpy trail smoother and more enjoyable, they'll also make it easier to push through fresh snowfalls (we're not talking knee deep snow here!! Even our skis have a limit!).

If, for example, you live in the city where you'll be traversing snow-covered side-walks, clear streets, patches of ice, slush, slippy side-walks etc, then Grippy would be your better option. The Grippy covers have 50 studs each that grip on any slippy surface giving you the confidence to continue you navigating your stroller. As they cover around your wheels, Grippy just keep rollling (and gripping!) everything in its path, even when there is no snow.

One customer let us know that they found having both was the most helpful depending on the conditions outside. On a snow day, the skis will work great. Once it starts to get cleared, Grippy will be your ally.

One tip is that if you do have the skis and find you're on a non-continuous snow surface, you can just use the skis on the front wheels and when you get to a cleared sidewalk or road, simply elevate the front wheels(skis) while you traverse. Having the skis just on the front wheels will still make a difference though the ride won't be quite as smooth as having the skis on all wheels.

For a "ready for anything" winter setup, use Grippy on the back wheels and the skis on the front.

Universal Jacket Extender

Watch this video to see how the Universal Adapter will slide onto your jacket.

It includes three items: Universal Adapter, adjustable extender and a removable polar fleece liner.

Watch this video to see how the Optional Fasteners (D-Rings) work and help prevent sliding.

Once you have slid the Universal Adapter onto your zip, these Optional Fasteners (D-rings) help prevent the Universal Adapter from sliding further and keep it at the desired height. You can use up to two of the fasteners per clip on the Universal Adapter.

Watch this video to see how to adjust the width of the Universal Jacket Extender.

The video includes instructions on using the Universal Adapter as a mini-extender during early pregnancy and post-partum, attaching the main extender for more room as your belly grows, closing the snaps on the main extender initially and also how to use the little length of elastic (Snaperoo) for in-between sizes.

Watch this video to see how the Universal can work on short and long jackets.

The Universal is designed to work on shorter jackets and longer jackets. In the video, instructions are provide on how to shorten the Universal Adapter on shorter jackets as well as how to reposition on a longer jacket.

The Universal Adapter and extender are about 27” long and the Universal Adapter can be repositioned to the ideal height on a longer jacket by simply sliding it. The main reason we don’t have a longer version is that it will become increasingly difficult to reach down and zip up a longer zip with a growing belly or while babywearing :). Repositioning means you will always be able to reach your zip.

Additionally, it is also advisable to unzip your jacket from the bottom before you sit down so that you have enough space - easier when you can actually reach the zip.

For longer jackets, one tip is to measure 27" along your zip to see how much coverage this would provide and this way you would have a better idea before ordering.

The main reason we don’t have a longer version is that it will become increasingly difficult to reach down and zip up a longer zip with a growing belly or while babywearing :). We think about how our extenders will work for you not just now but all throughout your pregnancy and babywearing journey. Simple as that.

All our adapters and extenders are 27" (70cm) long and we've found this length to be the most versatile. The Universal Adapter can be repositioned to the ideal height on a longer jacket by simply sliding it up. The bottom of the zip will always be within your reach.

Additionally, every time you sit down, for example, getting into a car, you would want to unzip from the bottom as this opens up the bottom of your jacket and reduces the amount of strain on the seams on the jacket. This strain is one of the main reasons why zips on jackets get damaged during pregnancy. Our hips expand by up to 50% when sitting down and coupled with a belly, this is a lot of pressure inside your jacket! Thankfully, we've also designed the Universal Adapter to pop-off your zip if it feels too much pressure so as to not be damaged. It does mean you'll need to slide your zips back through the little clips on the Universal Adapter hence why you will find it easier to simply unzip. each time.

For longer jackets, one tip is to measure 27" along your zip to see how much coverage this would provide and this way you would have a better idea before ordering.

It's our "Snaperoo" and helps you to adjust the width of your extender for in-between sizes - when the snaps are popping open but you don't need the full width yet. It has two settings and can be snapped anywhere on your extender where you want to adjust the width further.

This video has a section showing the Snaperoo in action.
