What is a BellyFit and how can it help me?

The BellyFit is a zip-in panel that expands the front of your own jacket during pregnancy and while baby-carrying. Gone are the days of having to borrow a partner’s larger jacket or buying an expensive maternity jacket that you’ll only use for a short while. Expand your own jacket!

When baby-carrying, it can be a real challenge getting your baby in a snow-suit or trying to somehow attach a blanket over your carrier for protection from wind, rain, snow and cold. With the BellyFit, you can conveniently wrap your jacket completely around yourself and your front-carrier, giving your baby the extra protection they need.

Can I use the BellyFit for both maternity and with a baby-carrier?

Yes! We designed the BellyFit so that you can get as much use out of it as possible from the moment your belly isn’t quite fitting your jacket until your baby gets too big for a front baby-carrier.

When baby-carrying, the BellyFit allows you to conveniently wrap your jacket completely around yourself and your front-carrier, extending the protection from your jacket to your baby. Our customers have used this to do just about any reasonable outdoor activity, from walking in the city, to hiking and snow-shoeing.

SAFETY NOTE!! Your baby’s safety is your responsibility. Always monitor your baby or child to ensure adequate ventilation and warmth. Always follow the safety instructions of your baby-carrier. The BellyFit is NOT a baby-carrier.

During what time of year can I use a BellyFit?

The BellyFit can be used all year-round whenever you use a jacket for protection against the weather, be it wind, rain, snow or cold. During the colder months, an extra fleece layer can be added to the BellyFit for more warmth and comfort.

Do I need a Zip Adapter and which one should I get?

You only need a zip adapter if the zip on your jacket doesn’t match the zip on the BellyFit. A simple test to know if the zip on your jacket will work with the BellyFit is to check if at least one of the sliders on your jacket has the markings "VISLON" and "5VS" on the back. Your jacket passed the test? The BellyFit will zip right into your jacket without an adapter.

Otherwise, please use our simple Which Adapter? form to submit your zip information and we'll let you know which adapter to order. We currently provide adapters for the most popular types of YKK brand zips.

I have a longer knee-length jacket. Will the BellyFit work with it?

Yes! The LONG Zip Adapter allows you to use the BellyFit on longer jackets. The adapter helps to position the BellyFit at the right height on your jacket. This gives you easy access to the zip for taking opening and closing your jacket without having to bend over and reach all the way down (try that with an 8-month belly!!).

What if the zip on my jacket is shorter or longer than the BellyFit

The BellyFit will still work if the zip on your jacket is shorter or longer. The BellyFit is a standard 27” (70cm) long. The BellyFit will usually work on jackets from about 24” up to 31”. For certain longer jackets up to 38”, we provide a LONG Zip Adapter which helps to position the BellyFit at the right height on your jacket.

If the zip on your jacket is shorter than 70cm (27"), you will simply need to fold the top section of the BellyFit down as needed. You can either fold it inside or outside your jacket.

When pregnant and the zip on your jacket is longer than 27” (70cm), the top part of the BellyFit will start to sit a little bit lower. How low depends on how much longer your jacket is. Most customers find the BellyFit still works well with jackets up to about 31”/32” after which a scarf is really needed to fill the gap. For some jackets, we do have the LONG Zip Adapter which re-positions the BellyFit on your jacket so that it sits at the right height.

When baby-carrying and the zip on your jacket is 27” (70cm) or less, you will typically only use about 50cm (20”) of the BellyFit, with the rest being folded in between the BellyFitl and the baby-carrier.

What is the BellyFit made of?

The BellyFit is made in Canada from a wind and water resistant softshell material, that keeps you and your belly/baby warm and dry. An optional fleece layer is also available that attaches to the inside of the BellyFit, providing extra warmth.

How do I buy/redeem a gift certificate?

Due to the complex nature of zips, we do not currently offer gift certificates.

How do I use a coupon?

After adding items to your cart click the "View Cart" link at the top of the shop page to view your cart. Once you have chosen your payment method, you will see a box where you may enter your coupon code.

How do I find my product?

To find the product(s) you're looking for, you may (1) use the navigation menus on the top and bottom of our website. (2) type a keyword into the SEARCH box. If you have any trouble locating a product, feel free to contact us for assistance.

How do I navigate the site?

To navigate this website, simply click on a category you might be interested in. Categories are located on the top & bottom of our website. QUICK TIP: Place your mouse cursor over anything you think could be a clickable link. You'll notice that anytime you scroll over something that is a link, your mouse cursor will become a "hand". Whereas scrolling over anything that is NOT a link will leave your cursor as an "arrow". You may also type a keyword into the SEARCH box to quickly find a specific product. How-to & Troubleshooting

The BellyFit doesn’t seem to zip into my jacket. Do you have any quick tips?

Here are two quick troubleshooting tips to help:

  1. If you’re sure the zip on your jacket matches the zip on the BellyFit but it’s not zipping up, try flipping it upside down. Make sure the “MakeMyBellyFit” label is at the bottom of your jacket. In other words, the narrowest part of the BellyFit should be at the bottom (always). The snaps on the top will allow you to adjust how wide the top part is – closed for maternity and open when baby-carrying. If you ordered a BellyFit without a Zip Adapter, did you make sure that the zip on your jacket has at least one slider with “VISLON” and “5VS”? If the answer is no, we suggest using our Which Adapter form and we’ll let you know if you need a Zip Adapter.

How do I use the Zip Adapter / LONG Zip Adapter?

Here are some simple steps to use the Zip Adapter:

  1. Lay the BellyFit down in front of you.
  2. Make sure that the widest part of the BellyFit is on the top. The "MakeMyBellyFit" label should always be at the bottom.
  3. Unzip the adapter into 2 pieces. Then zip each piece onto each side of the BellyFit.
  4. With the narrow part of the BellyFit at the bottom, zip the BellyFit/adapter into your jacket.

 

The LONG Zip Adapter allows you to use the BellyFit on longer jackets. The adapter helps to position the BellyFit at the right height on your jacket. To use the LONG Zip Adapter, the instructions are the same as 1 and 2 above however in step 3, each piece of the adapter will have a short zip and a long zip. How do I care for my BellyFit?

Machine wash cool with similar colours. Hang dry. Do not tumble dry. Do not iron. Do not dry clean. Some shrinkage may occur if washed above 30°C or tumble dried.

How much is my shipping and how long will it take?

Within Canada, we use CanadaPost Expedited Parcel and charge a flat shipping rate of $5.

To the US, we offer a flat shipping rate of $10 which includes tracking.

International, we offer a flat shipping rate of $20 which includes tracking.

Shipping is automatically added prior to submitting your payment information. Simply add items to your cart and proceed to the Checkout page.

Your items are usually shipped from Montreal, Canada. BellyFits and Warmth layers are typically shipped within 2 business days of order confirmation (not including weekends). A shipping confirmation email will be sent to you (sometimes it ends up in your SPAM folder :( ).

Within Canada, shipping times are 1 to 7 business days (Expedited Parcel).

To the US, shipping times are 4 to 10 business days.

To Europe, shipping times are 6 to 10 business days.

Please note that International Orders from Canada may be subject to customs duty. You will be responsible to pay any customs duties.

Orders do occasionally take longer than expected, particularly in the busy Christmas period or due to winter weather conditions. If your order has not arrived 10 working days after you receive your confirmation email, please contact us.

How do I return my product?

I received the wrong product.

If you feel that you have received the wrong product, please contact customer service within 72 hours of receiving the product. We’ll do our best to rectify the situation.

Order Status

Has my order shipped?

You will receive a confirmation email when your item(s) ships. This will include a tracking number for all Canadian orders.

Note: Sometimes this email ends up in your spam folder unfortunately :(.

How do I change quantities or cancel an item in my order?

Please contact us by telephone or email if you need to change quantities or cancel an item in your order. Please note that once an order has begun processing or has shipped, the order is no longer editable and our standard return policy will apply.

How do I track my order?

You will receive a confirmation email and tracking number (for Canadian orders) for your item once it has shipped.

My order never arrived.

Please use the tracking number provided to check the shipping status of your order. If your package shows a status of "delivered", please contact us for assistance.

An item is missing from my shipment.

Please contact us for assistance and we'll be happy to sort it out for you.

When will my backorder arrive?

Backordered items are those which we are unable to predict when we will have more in stock, but as soon as we do, we will be able to ship the item to you.

Are the prices in US$ or Canadian $?
